Leaders Workshop
Every year Informatics Europe organises a special Workshop for Leaders of Informatics Research and Education, where academic and research leaders of Informatics universities, departments, and research labs address specific challenges they encounter in their role. This year, the workshop was held as part of the ECSS 2023 program on Monday, 23 October, opened to all participants and co-chaired by Jane Hillston, University of Edinburgh, and Jean-Marc Jézéquel, IRISA / University of Rennes.
The theme of this year's workshop was "Diversity and Inclusion in a Multicultural World":
One of the joys of being part of a research community is the chance to mix with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds, with different experiences and different approaches to their work. But as we step into leadership roles, it can become a challenge to accommodate all this diversity in a fair and equitable way, whilst also being respectful and inclusive.
Presented and facilitated by academic colleagues and a professional coach with over 25-year experience in HR and change management roles, this was an opportunity to gain insights from each other’s experience and develop strategies to lead in an inclusive and engaging way.
