“Informatics: The Changing Landscape”
ECSS 2010 is the 2010 Summit of deans, department chairs and senior faculty of leading European Computer Science and Informatics faculties, departments, research institutes and laboratories. Like its predecessors, ECSS 2010 is the meeting place for anyone interested in issues of research, education and policy in informatics. For the first time in its history, ECSS moves to the Eastern half of the continent and takes place in Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, filled with cultural, artistic and historical references.
- Conference Co-chairs: Bertrand Meyer (ETH Zürich), Pavel Tvrdík (CTU in Prague)
- Department Chair Workshop Organizer: Jørgen Staunstrup (IT U. of Copenhagen, Denmark)
- EQANIE Workshop Organizer: Hans-Ulrich Heiß (TU Berlin, Germany)
Informatics (Computer Science/Computing) is the discipline of the future: the key to many new developments in science, innovations in industry, and novel services in the information society. Yet, the impact and expectation of ICT pose great challenges to all faculties, departments and research institutes in Informatics worldwide.

Special Sponsorship for Eastern European Participants
Informatics Europe is proud to announce the availability of a limited number of sponsorships for attendance at the ECSS 2010, made possible by a generous grant from Google encouraging the participation of universities from Eastern European countries. The sponsorships will cover approximately 40 participants and are available first-come, first-served. They include the full registration fee of ECSS (including proceedings, lunches, conference dinner and all other ECSS activities, except pre-conference workshops) as well as accommodation in the conference hotel for two nights. Eligible participants are faculty members from universities in Eastern European countries (the list of eligible countries appears below).
Informatics Europe and the organizing committee of ECSS 2010 would like to thank Google for this generous incentive and hope to count with a broad audience from Easter European countries.

What is the purpose of the European Computer Science Summit?
- To create an international network of deans, heads of departments, and research directors in Informatics.
- To provide a forum for discussion and the exchange of solutions and best practices on common issues.
- To examine ways in which deans, department heads, and research directors in Informatics can work together to improve teaching and research, implement the Bologna process, can influence the policies of their universities, governments and the EU, and take joint initiatives on many other issues.
- To provide a liaison with other groups pursuing relevant interests, such as the CRA in the US.
The successful 2007 Summit (ECSS 2007), 2008 Summit (ECSS 2008) and 2009 Summit (ECSS 2009) were held respectively in Berlin, in Zürich and in Paris.
