Working Sessions
After the closing of the ECSS 2018 main summit, the following working sessions were held in the afternoon of October, 10th.
- Meeting of National Informatics Associations (Chalmers Conference Center, Ledningsrummet)
Session Chair: Hélène Kirchner - INRIA
This invitation-only event gathered 15 national associations related to Informatics around Europe. The main purpose was for the associations to get to know each other and Informatics Europe, and to establish the necessary connections for promoting together research, education, and knowledge transfer in Informatics.
- Women in Informatics Research and Education (Chalmers Conference Center, Valdemar)
Session Chair: Lynda Hardman - CWI / Utrecht University
The purpose of the Informatics Europe working group "Women in Informatics Research and Education (WIRE)" is to promote actions that help improve gender balance at all stages of the career path in Informatics (Computer Science, Computing). This working session served to discuss and further concretise the WIRE activities.
- The Wide Role of Informatics at Universities (Chalmers Conference Center, Catella)
Session Chair: Susan Eisenbach - Imperial College London
We observe the increasing importance of Informatics in nearly all areas of life as well as scientific disciplines. This has a major impact on our role at universities (with respect to curricula, research, and Universities' organisations). The session served to discuss first results of the IE working group on the Wide Role of Informatics at Universities.
