The Faculty of Informatics  of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is the youngest faculty (2003) of the oldest Hungarian university (1635). ELTE is a modern university with 380 year old traditions. In terms of student and staff number, quality of education and research, international relations and prestige - it is a decisive, elite institution of state higher education in Hungary. The current number of students enrolled yearly has reached 28,000, and there is an academic staff of 1,800 highly-qualified teachers and researchers.

The Faculty of Informatics (FI) moved to its current location when it was separated from the Faculty of Sciences in 2003. It includes eight departments, covering the most important academic fields of Informatics with over 100 faculty members and 2800 students.  It has extensive international relations with higher education institutions and international organisations all over the world. ELTE FI leads the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group - the only EIT Digital partner located in the Central and Eastern European region.

The venue of the ECSS 2016, the Danube Riverside Campus, is located on the scenic and peaceful banks on the Buda side of the Danube and easily reached by public transportation.
