Introduction
Opened by Queen Victoria in 1886, Royal Holloway is ranked not only as one of the 12 most beautiful universities in the world, but also one of the best: in 2015, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed us 129th in the world and 19th overall in the UK. In the most recent Research Excellent Framework (REF 2014), Computer Science was ranked 11th in the UK for the quality of our research output, with a third of our publications recognised as world leading, and a further half internationally excellent (87% in total).
