Dear colleagues,
Thank you for considering participating in this survey. Its purpose is to understand the landscape with respect to the teaching of Ethics in Informatics* at higher level education institutes across Europe. We would like to elicit knowledge to compare with our findings from the Ethics4EU project in 2019, but also to gain an understanding of how other issues (Covid-19, AI regulations, new AI tools, new legislation) have impacted the status quo. Survey results will be used to produce a report and paper to allow better understanding of the needs and requirement of Informatics lecturers in term of teaching Ethics in Informatics.
We would be grateful if you could fill in this questionnaire on behalf of your institution. It will take around 15-20 minutes of your time. Please note that regardless of whether your institution teaches Ethics in Informatics programmes or not, it is important for us to get your feedback on this highly important topic for the community.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. There is no obligation to participate, and should you choose to do so you can refuse to answer specific questions or decide to withdraw from the study. All information you provide will be confidential and your anonymity will be protected throughout the study. IP addresses will not be collected at any point, meaning the data you provide cannot be traced back to you. When the results are shared or published, there will be nothing to identify you or your institution. You maintain the right to withdraw from the study at any stage up to the point of data submission. At this point your data will be collated with that of other participants and can no longer be retracted.
Thank you for your contribution!
Best regards,
Informatics Europe Ethics WG.
*Informatics is the preferred term in Europe for what is known as Computing or Computer Science in other parts of the world.
