IE Scholarships for Digital Humanism Summer School 2022

IE is offering two scholarships to support students attending the Digital Humanism Summer School 2022 (19-23 September in Vienna, Austria), organized by the DIGHUM: the Digital Humanism initiative supported and co-organized by Informatics Europe, TU Wien and other partners.

Digital Humanism is an interdisciplinary approach (integrating humanities, social, and technical sciences) that aims to describe, to analyse and, above all, to influence the complex interplay between IT and humanity - for a society that fully respects universal human rights. The Digital Humanism Summer School 2022 has been organized pursuing these goals. It targets PhD and advanced master students from engineering, social science and humanities as well as interested persons from industry, institutions and civil society. Leading scientists from the different fields involved will introduce topics such as AI, humans, and control; ethics and responsible design; fair systems; participation and democracy; platform power, regulation; work in a new world; or sovereignty and geopolitics. In addition, there will be enough room for discussions and presentations of participants’ projects. By completing the Summer School, participants will get awarded with three ECTS-credit points.

Students from the IE member institutions who wish to apply for a scholarship (full tuition waiver) should register here to the Summer School by 16 August, and send an email to administration@informatics-europe.org attaching the tuition fee-waiver letter mentioned in the registration process.

IE supporting Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE)

In collaboration with Informatics Europe and the ACM Europe Council, the 27th annual ACM conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE) is held between 11 and 13 July in Dublin, Ireland as well as virtually. Registration remains open during the conference.

The conference provides plenty of opportunities for scientific exchange alongside interesting keynotes and presentations with a focus on Computer Science Education. This year Prof. Letizia Jaccheri from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, our former Board Member as well as the current Chair of COST Action EUGAIN, is one of the keynote speakers at ITiCSE where she will present the gender issues in computer science research, education and society.

If you’ve missed this year’s ITiCSE, keep an eye on our Bulletin, Twitter or LinkedIn where you can get updates about ITiCSE 2023 to be hosted by University of Turku, Finland and ITiCSE 2024 to be hosted by Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy.
